The town of Saugerties is in a wonderfully relaxed setting and is located in the Catskill Mountains, only 2.5 hours from NYC/Hoboken. The house we’ll be staying at is 20 minutes from the train station so you are able to take a train from Penn Station. We’d be more than happy to pick up and drop off anyone at the train station. The house has 5 bedrooms and 4 full bathrooms. The house has a large open space for sewing on the first floor. The house also has a hot tub that guests are welcome to use anytime throughout the weekend. Retreat guests are welcome to hike/ski/explore/enjoy the 7 acres of nature that surrounds the house.
We’d like to keep the group intimate so the retreat will be open to a maximum of 10 guests. If you are coming with a friend and want to share a room with your friend, just let us know when you sign up. Otherwise we’ll assign you a room mate. Anyone who wishes to have a private room will have to purchase multiple spots.

Here is what past M Avery Designs Sewing Retreat participants had to say:
“It was great to meet up beforehand especially since it was the first one! I enjoyed the laid back nature of activities, location was beautiful, I liked that you had the different types of fabric. That Megan and Lauren (instructors on the retreat) were available for questions / support was of the greatest value to me. I think encouraging retreat participants to challenge themselves with skills they don’t know is ideal. I certainly was a bit nervous about embarking on pants on my own and know I would have gotten frustrated had I not had the support of the instructors there.”
“Both instructors were very helpful & really nice people!! I just wish I got further along w one of my projects (no ones fault but my own) wish I was more motivated to get help on certain things. So sweet & thoughtful of Megan to give necklaces & cards. I loved the retreat & I’m so glad that I went!!!”
“Amazing location and it definitely fostered a nice sense of community and relaxation.”

Come to work on the projects you didn't have time to work on at home or catch up on our other M Avery Designs Sewing Class projects. The instructor can provide help if you get stuck, but for in-depth projects you do not know how to do, you must take a private lesson prior to attending Sew Club.
Sew Club is FREE for any adult students enrolled (within 1 month ) in any of our ongoing Sewing Boot Camp classes or recently take one of our 2 Hour Garment Classes & need to finish your project. Use promo code freesewclub when you sign up. You must pay to sign up but we'll refund you when you show up.
$20 per 2 hour Sew Club - OR free for current adult students (see above)
This gets you a sewing machine, use of all our wonderful sewing studio space, thread, use of all our other sewing tools (scissors, rulers, needles, you name it), patterns, books etc. Fabric is for sale in the studio. Feel free to bring any food or drink you'd like.
Please note - As with all our classes, if we do not have sufficient enrollment, we reserve the right to cancel the class (with full refunds) with at least 48 hours notice.
Rules of Sew Club
You don’t talk about Sew Club. Just Kidding - Sew Club is a time to work on sewing projects independently and get light instruction from the instructor working.
Price of Sew Club is $20 for 2 hours.
Sew Club is FREE for those currently enrolled in a class and up to 1 month past the last class of the session. Use promo code freesewclub
Please use any of the studio tools, sewing machines, thread, etc.
Fabric is for sale for the prices listed.
Please feel free to use any of our sewing books and/or sewing patterns while in the sewing studio.
The instructor is ALWAYS here to help you with projects related to the class you are enrolled in.
Sew Club is not a sewing lesson for projects that are not from one our sewing classes. You can work on these and we can answer a question here and there if you get stuck. But keep in mind we have private sewing lessons that you are welcome to schedule one-on-one with an instructor for projects where you not sure what to do.
Again - If you’re working on something independently and you’re really stuck, an instructor can help you. Please don’t take advantage of this. See rule 9.

Students will focus on learning basic sewing skills to construct 2-3 articles of clothing that actually actually fit your body. We've designed a six week (15 hour) sewing class that will take your skills to the next level and have you sewing a top, pants and unlined jacket.
As with all our sewing classes, all students work at their own pace and focus on learning new skills based on the skills they come to class with.
Some of the things you'll learn in this class:
Taking your own body measurements.
Review of seam allowance and why is it important?
Review of threading & operating the sewing machine.
Learning basic clothing construction.
How to read a sewing pattern.
Which patterns are right for me?
What adjustments do I need to make?
How do I take things in and let them out.
